Our Mission Statement:
Old Newton Methodist Church is a warm, friendly and caring church. Our Mission is to be a church focussed on spreading the Gospel to all age groups, by practising what we preach to one another and in outreach to the community.
WE ARE OPEN!!!!!!
Our next service will be held on
Sunday 18th October at 10.45am
It will be a service of Holy Communion led by our minister, Revd Rita Carr.
At a meeting of the Church Council held on 1st September, it was agreed that we are ready to open our Chapel for worship again! Rita and the stewards have worked hard at making sure that the Chapel will be as safe a place as possible so that we can resume worshipping there.
Obviously, there will be changes in the way in which we use our building and in the content of the service. The service will be shorter and will haven congregational singing. It will include music with hymns for us to listen to rather than sing. The celebration of Holy Communion will be different with e each communicant receiving a sealed pack containing a wafer and grape juice from the minister at their chair. This is deemed to be the safest way of receiving the elements. The Chapel is set out differently now with. fewer chairs and a safe distance between them. We will only be using the Chapel, porch, vestry and accessible vestry toilet. Other rooms will be out of use.
If you would like to come we have to ask you to tell us beforehand that you are coming. Please contact Rob Wood by Saturday 17th October.
You will need to wear a face mask for the whole service. We will have some spares in case anyone forgets!
A steward will greet you at the front door of the Chapel and ask you to sanitise your hands before you go in.
We will also have to record your name and contact details for 'Track and Trace' when you arrive.
We cannot serve coffee or have fellowship in the Chapel after the service, but there should bee a chance for a socially-distanced chat outside.
We will see how this first service goes and make any necessary improvements before announcing further services.
Old Newton Methodist Chapel is a warm, welcoming and lively place to worship on a Sunday morning. Our evening service is more reflective in nature.
Although we are in a rural location we are at the heart of the community. We reach out in Mission through Hospitality serving regular meals on the first Tuesday of the month. We hold a regular Bible Study and we Pause for Prayer on the first and third Tuesday of the month.
The surrounding countryside in which we are set is a living testament to God’s glory.
We hope you like our web site and enjoy exploring all we have to offer.
