Old Newton Methodist Church

Our Mission Statement:

Old Newton Methodist Church is a warm, friendly and caring church.  Our Mission is to be a church focussed on spreading the Gospel to all age groups, by practising what we preach to one another and in outreach to the community.

Our Minister

Our Minister, Revd Rita Carr, is on sabbatical leave until 12th July.  If you wish to contact a Methodist Minister before then please get in touch with out Superintendent Minister, Revd Debbie Borda.

Opening the Chapel After Lockdown

Of course we very much want to open our premises and continue our work in the community.  But we do have to be very careful.  arrangements are being made for the gradual opening of the Chapel and the other churches in the Circuit as it is safe to do so.

At the moment we plan to have the Chapel open for a Service of Holy Communion on one Sunday a month from April to July.  It is safe and possible to do so further services will gradually be introduced.

While Rita is away the services will be led by other ministers and will be held at different times to enable them to lead worship in more than one church on a Sunday morning and to travel between the two.

The planned dates and times are

Sunday 9th May    11.15am  Revd Debbie Borda

Sunday 13th June     11.15am  Revd Ruth Ridge

Sunday 18th July     11.15am  Revd Rita Carr

Sunday 15th August     10.45am  Revd Rita Carr

For the next three months at least Sunday services and some other activities on Zoom.  If you would like to join us, please contact Rob Wood for the codes.

Fellowship at Old Newton

Old Newton Methodist Chapel is a warm, welcoming and lively place to worship on a Sunday morning. Our evening service is more reflective in nature.

Although we are in a rural location we are at the heart of the community. We reach out in Mission through Hospitality serving regular meals on the first Tuesday of the month.  We hold a regular Bible Study and we Pause for Prayer on the first and third Tuesday of the month.

The surrounding countryside in which we are set  is a living testament to God’s glory.

We hope you like our web site and enjoy exploring all we have to offer.
