Old Newton Methodist Church

Our Mission Statement:

Old Newton Methodist Church is a warm, friendly and caring church.  Our Mission is to be a church focussed on spreading the Gospel to all age groups, by practising what we preach to one another and in outreach to the community.

Please see below for an update from Rita.

The Methodist Church has issued advice that worship services in its churches are suspended for the time being.

It is with sadness that we have received this directive from the Methodist Connexion that all services and activities are suspended with immediate effect because of the coronavirus guidance received from the government.  It is so important that you keep yourself safe. So, there will be no services from this Sunday 22ndMarch until further notice.

Each week we will prepare a worship at home sheet that can be used on a Sunday morning.  We are suggesting that this is at 10.30am when all individuals will use the service sheet and feel connected to each other.

My prayers, as always, are with you all at this difficult time.

May the God of love bless you,

May the God of love strengthen you

May the God of love carry your burdens

May the God of love hear your prayers. Amen.

God Bless, Reverend Rita Carr

Dear Friends

In Methodism we have John Wesley’s rule of life.

Do all the good you can,

By all the means you can,

In all the ways you can,

In all the places you can,

At all the times you can,

To all the people you can,

As long as ever you can.

On Sunday I shared with some folk the words printed in the Methodist Recorder on April 3rd  seen below:

Social Distancing like a Wesley.

Avoid all the people you can,

By all the means you can,

In all the ways you can,

At all the places you can,

At all the time you can,

As long as ever you can.

A humours’ look at what our life is like at the moment.

As we journey together through another week of social distancing and share worship in a different way, we can be assured that Christ is the same as before, that we are never alone and we are loved and hugged by our Lord Jesus Christ who was crucified, was buried and rose from the dead. Our story of resurrection, of new life, is the way in which we are being church.  We join together using the worship sheets., some of us are able to join  together using Zoom and now each week the worship service will be recorded and put onto the Bury St Edmunds Methodist Church website (burystedmundsmethodistcircuit.org.uk ) to be viewed when you are able.  All these give us a great sense of being church.

May God Bless You All as you journey through this week knowing that your brothers and sisters in Christ journey with you.

 Old Newton Chapel

Fellowship at Old Newton

Old Newton Methodist Chapel is a warm, welcoming and lively place to worship on a Sunday morning. Our evening service is more reflective in nature.

Although we are in a rural location we are at the heart of the community. We reach out in Mission through Hospitality serving regular meals on the first Tuesday of the month.  We hold a regular Bible Study and we Pause for Prayer on the first and third Tuesday of the month.

The surrounding countryside in which we are set  is a living testament to God’s glory.

We hope you like our web site and enjoy exploring all we have to offer.
